Reader/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Development Economics

£29,853 - £52,347

We are looking for an experienced researcher or an emerging research talent in the field of development economics. The Economics Division has a long track record in environmental economics, and we would be particularly interested in applications from individuals working on the links between environment and development. We are also interested in people working in the inter-face between development economics and labour or human capital, and in development finance and emerging markets.

The new appointment would take on responsibilities in teaching courses in development economics, and the economics of transition. Teaching responsibilities will include courses within our MSc in Banking and Finance, and on the School of Management’s new MBA programme. Inputs to undergraduate courses will also be required, and the candidate will have opportunities to teach on the Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics

Depending on the quality and track record of the successful candidate, we are able to offer this position at Reader, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer level.  This is a full time, open ended post.

An opportunity has arisen for a two-year fixed term lecturing position to provide dedicated resource to develop and launch an MSc in Social Marketing at the Institute for Social Marketing, Stirling Management School.

The job offers significant career opportunities because the successful candidate will make a mark on social marketing education.  We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, highly motivated and committed to the launch of a high quality and successful MSc. S/he should have a well developed understanding of the post-graduate education needs of the sector and experience of delivering high quality social marketing teaching, preferably at various educational levels.  We expect the post holder to have their own social marketing research portfolio, ideally including externally funded projects and international experience, which they will pursue through joining the work of the longstanding and excellent social marketing research group at Stirling.

The Department of Psychology is looking to appoint a Lecturer to build on an existing area of excellence in Child Development, although allied disciplines will be considered.  This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a research-led department and to help enhance and develop our research and teaching expertise.

For this post we are looking for candidates with an existing track record of high quality research in child development, in particular those with established research in cognitive or linguistic development and also the ability to develop a coherent future research strategy. Experience of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level is essential and the post holder will be expected to supervise postgraduate research. Excellent communication and team working skills are also vital requirements of this role.

This full-time post is an open ended position, with a proposed start date of 1st August 2010, although the starting date can be varied by mutual agreement.

Chair of Virology

£attractive salary package

 

The University of Stirling invites applications for a newly established Chair of Virology in the Institute of Aquaculture associated with funding from the Marine Alliance for Science & Technology, Scotland (MASTS).

The University seeks to appoint a scientist of the highest international standing to increase the research momentum in virology of the Institute of Aquaculture.  The appointee should have a distinguished research record in virology, and will be expected to participate in the research involving fish diseases within the Institute and the MASTS consortium.

It is expected that the appointee will provide inspiring academic leadership and enhance the international research standing of the Institute.

The appointee must have an established track record of publication in prestigious journals, and have demonstrated the ability to acquire substantial research funding.

This post is full time on 5 year fixed term basis, in the first instance.

The appointee will be expected to develop and lead a strong research group and to form productive collaborations with MASTS.
